This cat story was from my friend Carol who is a postal worker and takes care of 35 feral cats along her route not only feeding them but providing boxes for "homes" and takes them to the vet when needed. "Jan picked up a lost cat last Spring by a gas station in New Haven. He was a friendly guy but not a team player- fought with the other males in the shelter. About a month ago Steph [from the Halfway Home shelter] brought him to PetSmart (the adoption center). Folks would look, but no takers...and then last Friday a woman calls and sez she thinks he is her cat lost since 2007. She had gone away and had a friend petsit. The friend took the cat to her house and somehow he escaped...The family was heartsick and put up posters and called the pound and animal hospitals...Last week, she went shopping with another friend who needed some pet supplies... just by chance she wanders over to the cages and discovers HER CAT in there!!! She brought photos to prove that that's her cat. The whole family showed up and they were crying and the cat was reaching out to his people- Steph showed me a photograph of the happy scene..." What a great story.
